the sovereign lord

““The Lord reigns…..”, and then “The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea”.”

Right now, numerous conflicts are happening across the globe, in addition to the pandemic. And yet the world keeps rolling on, morning comes and morning goes as usual, and life moves on, and God’s mercy remains forever.

And with so many “gloom and doom” prophecies and proclamations, humanity struggles hard for survival, gearing up with hope against hope, either for a hopeful future or the unknown.

But the truth remains, He is calm who believes that God is Sovereign. Amen!

The Psalmist proclaimed again and again, “The Lord reigns…..”, and then “The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea”. (Psalm 93:1, 4)

Yes, God is Sovereign and Mighty!

David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying,

“Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the greatness and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honour come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.” (I Chron.29:10 – 13)

God said of David, “I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” (Acts 13:22; 1Sam.13:14).

In David’s ministry as a shepherd and king over all Israel, David found none other than God himself, who could give him strength, wisdom, humility, reverence and power to rule over Israel. And he learnt that God Almighty alone is Sovereign be exalted above all things. This God knew every detail of the circumstances in David’s life, so also He knows the details of our life and the world. He is the same God who led David, He will also lead you and me in the way He has already planned for each one of us. Stay calm, don’t fret, trust Him, for He is Sovereign, He is over us all.

Even though David’s heart was wrapped in gloom but he was confident in God’s protection (Psalm 61). He was sure that God would show him mercy and truth, to preserve him in the time of fear and anguish.

But the truth remains, He is calm who believes that God is Sovereign. Amen

Be assured, the Rock of Ages is with you. Amen
