LIVING AS A CHAMPION

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10
About 800,000 people commit suicide worldwide every year, of these 135,000 (17%) are residents of India, a nation with 17.5% of world population. Between 1987 and 2007, the suicide rate increased from 7.9 to 10.3 per 100,000. (Source: Wiki). What’s alarming is the increasing figures of suicidal rates globally. Is the world becoming an unhappy place day by day? What can we do? We can’t change the circumstances, can we? If we can’t change the circumstances around us, can we change atmosphere within?
Have you ever wondered how much of strength do you have in the inside of you? Unfortunately, there is no barometer to gauge our inner strength. But the day when we failed and had given up, that was the proof of our inner weakness. What can we do about our inner weakness? We all want to be strong, and above all, God wants His people to be strong. (Eph 6:10)
Why do you think these many people commits suicide? What makes them take their own life? Have the human pursuit for live come to an end? No. the reason simply being -we are weak people in the inside. Because we have little strength, we fail, we give up and we surrender. Whatever be the situation, circumstances or the crisis, God wants us strong – to be more than conquerors.
We know the demand placed over us by our society, institutions, families, employers and the psychological toll we all carry within ourselves every day. It isn’t easy, we all at times want to give up. But take heart, God has a plan for our weariness, our weakness. You may be down and depressed, but God wants to strengthen you. t’s not the the power of adversity that faints us, kills or destroys us, it’s our own weakness. What power can there be in adversities to slew the giants of faith?? No, nothing can… In Christ, we are more than conquerors. (Rom 8:37)
We need strength, we need power to conquer our adversity. We want our inner man to arise amidst all odds to live as victors. Every adversity has a divine purpose in our lives. (James 1, Rom 5:5) and we need power to live out those purposes. We need power to press on against all opposing forces that want to derail us. We need strength to hang on until God is done with His task in our life. We want to be on the other side more polished, with greater vigour and insights, ready to minister those fighting their private battles. God wants us to live like true champions… in Christ we can!!
The secret of power for our inner man to be a champion is in our waiting in God’s Presence. If we learn the art of practicing waiting in the presence of God, we will not lack the power we need to be a champion. After all, it takes a price to be a champion; the price of giving away our time to God. To do that which the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak to perform.
He gives POWER to the FAINT,
and to him who has no might he INCREASES STRENGTH.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but THEY WHO WAIT FOR THE LORD shall renew their STRENGTH;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40: 29-31)
Will you allow Him to strengthen you?
Prayer: Dear God, we are weak but you are strong. Give us the strength that we need to stand still in our adversity until you are done with your task in our life. Help us be a true champion. Amen
